At Dress for Success Calgary (DFSC), they take the saying “dress for the part” seriously. It’s not just about women looking good; it’s about women feeling empowered to secure employment in the direction they want to go, while feeling confident to be the best they can be.
This Calgary non-profit is on a mission to help Calgary women succeed in the mainstream workplace and achieve economic independence. We are proud to partner with DFSC as the 2017 Calgary Woman’s Show Charity of Choice.
“We are so proud to have Dress for Success as our Charity of Choice at the Fall Show,” says Christine Griffin, Show Director. “Their mission to empower woman to thrive in the work force and in life aligns with everything the Calgary Woman Show stands for.”
“Partnering with the Calgary Woman’s show is a great fit for us,” says Ayden Athwal, DFSC Board Chair. “We have the opportunity to connect with the Calgary community on a large scale and spread awareness of our organization”
Calgary Woman’s Show attendees will have the chance to visit the DFSC booth during the show to shop for discounted accessories from its boutique, chat with DFSC volunteer stylists about fashion tips and tricks, while learning more about the organization’s mission and how to get involved.
“We’re always looking for new volunteers to join our growing organization! Whether you’re looking to help out in our boutique, join one our committees, or donate financially, you will help Calgary women achieve economic independence,” says Athwal
This year so far, the organization has helped more than 150 Calgary women on their journey to secure employment, but Athwal says the need is still great. “Imagine an unemployed single mom having to choose between putting food on table for her children over buying clothing for an interview. The choice is obvious, but it puts her in a difficult position to find a job. It’s hard to have confidence in an interview when you don’t feel like you look qualified. This is just one of many examples our clients experience, and we want to help as many as we can so they can build brighter futures.”
DFSC is part of a global movement for change, empowering women to obtain a safe and better future. Located in Inglewood, DFSC boutique’s suiting program offers clients a one-on-one styling session where interview and employment outfits are selected based on the client’s individual needs and preferences. Styling sessions are always in a comfortable atmosphere to ensure every client’s experience is enjoyable and confidence boosting.
The non-profit will also be running a Text-to-Donate campaign throughout October to raise much-needed funds to help even more Calgary women. You can help by texting DRESS to 20222 to donate ten dollars from October 1 to 31.
